1. About TaifaConnect

TaifaConnect is a digital platform designed to assist members of the public in reconnecting lost identity documents with their rightful owners. The platform enables users to report lost documents and report documents they have found, including but not limited to National Identity Cards, Maisha Cards, Driving Licences, Passports, and other personal identification documents.

2. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms govern your use of TaifaConnect. By accessing, using, or submitting any report through TaifaConnect, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the platform.

3. Accuracy and Honest Declarations

By submitting a report, you declare that:

• The information provided is true, accurate, and complete to the best of your knowledge.
• You will not knowingly submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
• You will not impersonate another person or submit reports on behalf of someone without appropriate authority.
• Any document reported as found has been genuinely found and is in your possession or under your control.

Knowingly providing false information may constitute an offence under applicable Kenyan laws and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

4. Use of Personal Information

TaifaConnect collects and processes personal information solely for the purpose of:

• Managing lost and found document reports.
• Verifying report information.
• Facilitating communication between document owners and finders.
• Improving the operation and security of the platform.

Where necessary to facilitate document recovery, limited contact information may be shared with the relevant party. Publicly displayed verification results and search results may be partially masked to protect personal information.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

TaifaConnect is committed to protecting personal information in accordance with the applicable laws of Kenya, including the Data Protection Act, 2019.

While reasonable measures are taken to safeguard personal data:

• No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
• Users are responsible for ensuring that the information they submit is accurate and appropriate.
• TaifaConnect shall not be liable for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

6. Service Fees

Certain services may attract a processing fee. Where applicable:

• Fees will be clearly disclosed before payment is made.
• Payment constitutes acceptance of the stated fee.
• Successfully processed submissions are generally non-refundable unless required by law or where TaifaConnect determines that a refund is appropriate.

7. Collection and Release of Documents

TaifaConnect facilitates reporting and notification services only. The actual transfer, collection, or release of documents remains the responsibility of the relevant parties.

Before handing over any document, users should take reasonable steps to verify the identity and ownership of the claimant. TaifaConnect is not responsible for disputes arising from improper release of documents by users.

8. Prohibited Use

Users must not:

• Submit false or misleading reports.
• Use the platform to harass, threaten, or defraud others.
• Attempt to obtain another person's personal information unlawfully.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the security of the platform.
• Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to abuse the service.

Violation of these provisions may result in suspension of access and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement authorities.

9. Limitation of Liability

TaifaConnect is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While reasonable efforts are made to maintain accurate and reliable services:

• We do not guarantee that every lost document will be recovered.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
• We are not responsible for losses, damages, delays, or disputes arising from user-submitted information, misuse of the platform, or interactions between users.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TaifaConnect's liability is limited to the amount paid, if any, for the relevant service.

10. Changes to These Terms

TaifaConnect reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes become effective immediately upon publication on the platform unless otherwise stated. Continued use of TaifaConnect after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Termination of Access

TaifaConnect reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the platform where a user breaches these Terms, engages in fraudulent conduct, or otherwise misuses the service.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from the use of TaifaConnect shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
